May 2013 - the Dusky Thrush in Kent!
Unbelievably, there is a one-day only Dusky Thrush at Margate Cemetery which shows well to all who make it there that day! Still working on a painting to do justice to this amazing bird.

May 2013 - Lakenheath RSPB
Nice views of three Hobbies and also the male Red-footed Falcon over the fenland reedbeds at lakenheath. No cheating, copying from photos, this is all done direct from life, straight in with a biro... that's all the perched birds, and all the birds in flight. People have asked me if I was using photos. No, I sold my most recent camera at the end of last year. Don't get me wrong though sometimes I crave a camera when views are brief. But cameras make you lazy. How many photographers could tell you what they have actually seen? The truth is the camera has studied the bird but the photographer hasn't. Discuss.
